TRAVEL: a short trip to Isle of Skye

ISLE OF SKYE is an island located on the West Coast of Scotland, it’s connected by bridge to Scotland’s Northwest coast. The Highlands is actually have so much to offer, it serves you nothing but a delight for the eyes.

It took us 6 hours drives from Glasgow to reach the first destination, The Old Man of Storr. The storr offers a rocky hill overlooking the beautiful scenery of lake and other summits. The fun fact about this place is that it get it’s name because of the rocks outline resemble the face of an old man (tho in fact i couldn't really see the similarity 😅).

To reach to the top, we have to walk for about one and a half hour (with no stop, obviously) of the step hills. IT IS exhausting, at least for me because i couldn't stand the supppppper crazy wind, yet i can guarantee it will worth the hike. I mean, look at the view we got along the way!

Our second destination was Loch Mealt, it is a lake near The Storr which had a fairly waterfalls plunging from a cliff into it. To be said, it was hard for me to overlook the falls and and the kilt both in one frame. There wasn't pretty much choice of spots to see the views, as the best spot were confined in a small area, so you gonna have to stand shoulder to shoulder with other visitors.

Walking a few paces from the Falls, you can see a view of kilt rocks across the lake. As i said before, everything you see there in the highlands are just a delight for the eye, without an exception. You just got to sit back and enjoy the eyes pleasing scenery!

The third destination was Neist Point Lighthouse. It's about an hour and a half drives from The Storr. The place is on the edge of the island, so the wind is even crazier there. I was feeling under the weather when i reached the place, so i decided to stay in the car while some of my friends were walked down to see the Lighthouse. You see, i wasn't even went out of the car but i can assure you the wind there can blow myself back if i wasn't really in a good condition (!the car was even shaking due to the wind!). Nevertheless, it will be a lifetime experience though looking over the view from the very end edge of Scottish island.

After visiting the lighthouse, we were heading to a motel we booked. We choose to spent the night in a small town (which i happen to forgot the name) which located halfway to Glasgow so by the next morning we only have to drive a few miles left to go back home.  It was such a pleasing day, visiting the highlands should definitely go into you bucket list. I mean don't even hassle looking for a destination there, it was just fancy enough to stop by on some random spot on the driveway to get yourself a hundreds of straight-out-from-painting-pictures on your phone. Hence, we called it a day!

If you planning to visit Isle of Skye, here are some pro tips based on my exclusive experience as an amateur hiker:

1. WEAR THE MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES YOU GOT, believe me you don't wanna ignore this. I wear my pair of chuck taylor and i can barely feel my foot.

2. Layer up! it may not be under 5 degrees but the wind will always be c r a z y. It will be even better if you wear something like a windbreaker jacket.

3. Avoid bringing too much stuff while you hike. Just bring your phone, camera, and drink, and leave everything else on the car. You don't wanna be bothered overloading things when you walking up the distances.

4. Pack some foods and drinks especially if you planning to leave at night. There will only be a couple of restaurants and supermarkets on the way.

5. Watch out for bambis ðŸ¦Œ alongside the road, especially at night. Nope, i'm not joking. Yes, you read it right. Highlands is a truly beautiful natural scenery, just like what you see in a painting; trees and waterfalls and rivers and deer and sheep and cow and rabbit, all in one frame. Our car were almost hit a deer, so be careful driving there.

6. Prepare for your itinerary first. Look at the distances within each destination, look for a place to stay, don't spend too much time in one place. You can google the itinerary to Isle of Skye, there's a lot to look at.

7. Mind these tips and thank me later!
