Why Scotland?

Many people might be wondering why five of us chose to study in Scotland instead of London or other big cities. We will now tell you the reasons why Scotland is one of the best places to study in the UK, and we guarantee that you will fall in love with Scotland just like we did!

1. Universities in Scotland

Do you know that many of the most prestigious universities in the world are located in Scotland? Many of them along the likes of University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, and University of St.Andrews were established since the 15th century!

Apart from the historical and prestigious senses, Scottish universities are also pioneers of many subject areas in the UK. For example, Hariot-Watt University was the first department in the UK that offered a BSc in Actuarial Science.

Long history of the higher institutions in Scotland is a guarantee of the quality and knowledge that we will be taught. And this is our first reason for choosing Scotland!

2. Scotland is named to be the one of the friendliest place to study!

We know that it might be difficult for us, Asian students, to really understand the Scottish accent and because of this reason, we might tend to avoid talking to them. But, if you really try to talk to them, you will find that they are very open and trying their best to understand what you say. We have found that our Scottish classmates are very easy to talk to, very friendly and very funny (of course once you understand them).

You can be certain that you will surely be welcomed!

3. Beautiful sceneries/ Architecture/ Tourist destination!

If you are a photogenic person, YOU WILL DEFINITELY LOVE IT HERE!
Taking photos here is just amazing, the buildings and architectures here will add a lot of warm and earth-toned photos in your photo galleries!

If you are not a fan of architecture photography and more of a nature photographer, Scotland also has that!

Scotland offers a variety of natural sceneries and landscapes ranging from mountains, lakes, forests, seas, and sandy beaches!

These places surely are a Perfect holiday destination when you are off-school (You can find more about our travel in the latter part of our blog -- stay tuned). Activities and beautiful places here will doubtlessly keep you busy for the rest of the year (don't go during the term time tho!).

4. Many world's famous people used to live here!

And when we said famous, we REALLY mean it. If you are a fan of detective novels like me (it's me-- Pop), you must know Arthur Conan Doyle! Isn't it amazing to once in a life time visit the place where the creator of Sherlock Holmes was born and raised?

Ok, if you are not a fan of mystery fictions, how about someone academically famous? Adam Smith (Yes, you read it correctly), the world's father of economics, was also studying in the University of Glasgow. There are many other historical famous people that used to live, work, and study in Scotland. So, coming to Scotland might not only give you good experience, but also teach you the historical context!

We are spending nothing but good time with amazing people here. We hope this article can help you with your future decision.

Hope to see you soon in Scotland!
